P&P&Z

"Sometimes the last person on earth you want to be with is the one person you can't be without."

*sigh*

I'm pretty sure that most of you have seen this movie and fallen in love with it. Or maybe you have read the book and fallen in love with it. But no matter how you got to know the story, I'm 97% sure that you would have fallen in love with it anyway.

(^.^)

Oh, wait look! What's this?

OH MY GOODNESS!

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT????

It looks like a super skinny Keira Knightley losing her skin and now you can actually see her bones!

Ok, that was mean. I'm just kidding!

That, my friends, is the smart-ass idea of a Los Angeles-based writer Seth Grahame-Smith. Jane Austen's novel has been zombie-fied and *sniff* Elizabeth Bennet kicks flesh-eating monsters' ass in the quiet village of Meryton (probably like how Buffy kicked vampire ass in Sunnydale).

Whyyyy????

"Why else in the original should a regiment arrive on Lizzie Bennet's doorstep when they should have been off fighting Napoleon... it was to protect the family from an invasion of brain-eaters, obviously." - Seth Grahame-Smith

Whaaat??? (-_-"

Well then, maybe they should introduce Freddy Kreuger to Oliver Twist! Or lengthen Romeo and Juliet's story because their death was made to look like suicide but the truth is, they were killed by the Son of Sam! Heh.

But I do wonder how the story will be like though. Maybe I'll try and see if I can get my hands on one of the copies.

Then again, maybe I'll wait a while. I have these to look through first! XD

I said what???

Me: So Grace, did you do A Levels in KL before you came here?

Grace: Yea.

Me: Did you go to Taylor's?

Grace: No no no. I went to Sunway.

Me: Oh alright.

Grace: There's a lot of people from Taylor's here ho?

Me: No, not really.

Grace: Maybe you don't know because they're all from SAM.

Me: I guess so.

The conversation then led on to all sorts of topics like how we dislike housemates who are untidy, and that we find some international Asian students unfriendly and super kiasu. (o_o)

Me: Hey, I think I better get your number first before I forget.

Grace: Ok.

Me: *passes handphone to Grace*

Grace: *keys in number* How do you save it?

Me: It's ok, just pass it to me. I'll save the rest.

Now here's the story. Right after I took back my handphone, I was thinking in my head whether Grace's phone network is the same as mine. At the same time, she was aabout to ask me a question but I interrupted her and never got to hear her finish the question because I assumed that she was asking me a question related to the thought in my head but it turns out that it wasn't so, my answer was, well, totally hilarious.

Grace: So are you a...

Me: Virgin.

Chloe (who was sitting on my left): What?

Grace: What?

Me: Huh?

Grace and Chloe: LOL!LOL!LOL!LOL!

Chloe: Did I just hear that?

Me: What? (I still didn't realise how weird it was for me to say that)

Grace: You thought that I was going to ask you if you're a virgin?

Me: *finally realises* Oh... Cheh! I thought that you were going to ask me which phone network I'm with so I answered you "Virgin". You know, Virgin Mobile!

Grace: LOL! You didn't let me finish my question!

Me: Eheh..

So kids, the lesson today is: always let other people finish asking their questions and don't assume or else your answer might cause you to embarrass yourself.

*blushes*

Love your furry friends!

"Over the decades, there's always been a fuss on whether animal cruelty was considered a criminal act. It is only recently that it is recognised in the criminal justice system and more laws are enforced to protect the welfare of our non-human critters. And so here we are now, looking into detail about animal cruelty. It is a new topic in the subject by the way."

That's what my Criminology lecturer said this afternoon.

This week we're going to be understanding the "whats?", "whys?", "hows?", well you name it, of animal cruelty. Steve, my lecturer, was nice enough to warn us all to close our eyes if we could not handle looking at the next slides which contained some gruesome pictures of mistreated animals.

It was very upsetting. There were disfigured fighting dogs, black cats nailed to a cross (a cult's sacrifice), neglected horses and loads more. =(

Then he made up for it by showing us a cute and adorable video at the end of the lecture! XD I found it in youtube and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I do. =D

ME vs ASS. Round 1

The first week was a breeze. All we did was get to know the subject and the people in our tutorials. Sounds like a happy start right?

End of second week to the begining of the third week.
BAAMM!!!!
Assignments are thrown at us from all sorts of directions and I find that the lecturers and tutors looooove to share the same dates because most of them are due in the same week and some even on the same days!!

Subject #1: ACCOUNTING

Assignment 1 (10%)
- Questions given in Learning Management System (LMS) site
- Point form essay, 800-1000 words
Problem: Have not started, still not used to terminology and will probably take longer time to complete it, check, double check and triple check before handing it in.

Due: Wednesday 25th March 2009 before 5.00pm

Subject #2: CRIMINOLOGY

Oral presentation (10%)
- Pick an article from the newspaper related to any crime committed in Australia after 01/03/09
- Describe the crime, motives, progress of legal action (if any), support with criminology theories
Problem: Not subscribed to any papers so would have to buy it from some shop (or grab it from a coffee shop secretly) and so far, the papers that I have do not have any interesting crimes! Dawei said that it proves that Australia is very safe. (-_-"

Presenting on: Wednesday 25th March 2009 at 12pm tutorials

Subject #3: ACCELERATED MATH

Assignment 1 (5%)
- MCQ through the LMS
- 10 questions on Matrices
Problem: I don't know if there's much of a problem yet because I haven't done it. The good thing is that the questions are not timed (I think) and there are three attempts. Each attempt will be on another random set of ten questions though so based on this, the problem might be that each question might be an average to difficult level, no easy ones. =/

To be completed online before: Thursday 26th March 2009 before 7.59am

Subject #4: ECONOMICS

Assignment due on Tuesday 7th April 2009 but I'm not going to look through that one just yet. I need to dedicate these few days to the other three so that it won't be a total flop. Heh.

I just hope that after next week, they can give us a few days to breathe and relax before shoving Round 2 in our faces! XD

Friday, March 13

One month

It's still year 2009 (oh my! Don't tell me you forgot?!), and the month now is March.
Today, Friday the 13th.

Ooooo.. Bad luck!
Ahhh! Don't let that black cat/dog/bird/orangutan cross your path!
Watch out for that ladder, er.. scaffolding!
Knock wood! But there's nothing wooden here. Then quick, find a nearby tree or plant and you better knock it harder so that you can get rid of your bad luck faster!

And a whole load of silly superstitions which I do not want to list down because that is not what I want to talk about.

=P

So, today is Friday the 13th of March 2009.

I've been away from home for exactly four weeks and honestly, I do not feel that homesick. Surprisingly, I felt really terrible for the first few weeks when I was in Taylor's almost two years ago and that is not even half the physical distance right now. By logic, I should be feeling more lonely and homesick now compared to the time when I was just at the West side of the country.

Hmmm..

It's not like I want to be homesick but when Ee Can asked me this morning if I have been feeling that way, I paused and thought hard and realised that, I'm not missing home at all. Well, maybe a little somewhere in me but I do not have any moments where I'd cry myself to sleep or stuff. Yea, I do miss a few people and maybe some of the local food but it's the people who matter in my life that still connects me to Kuching.

Probably the main reason I feel comfortable here in Melbourne is that I have my aunt with me. She's my mum's sis and I'm very close to my mum's side of the family. It has always been that way since I was young and they were the ones who have been constantly supporting me and my sister and they are the ones who really taught us the true meaning of family love.

If you were to ask me when I was younger, I would have said that I did not enjoy the other side. I can think of many reasons not to like them but you know, I think that some of them are changing, and they are changing for the better. Hallelujah! It is only recently that I realised that they are all not so bad, anyway, every family has their own problems, and for them, they have learnt to be a little more accepting and better still, a little more smiley-faced. =) Really, I always remember the cold and serious atmosphere which I still can feel around them but it's a lot less dense than before. XD

So anyway, back to homesickness and stuff, I guess that even with one family member around, I feel as if I can kinda call Melbourne my 2nd or 3rd home. Hehe.. Maybe another reason would be that I enjoy the diversity of cultures here and the lifestyle. It's very exciting that there's people with all sorts of different backgrounds and it's very enjoyable to mix with them because they are all (probably 8 out of 10?) very open minded and friendly. =)

I think I can see myself living here for the next couple of years and who knows, maybe most of my adulthood years even? There's a lot more benefits and opportunities here if I were to choose to either build up my career or settle down and start a family in the years to come. Well of course, I'll be focusing on my career first and marriage would have to wait till I am about, hmmm, 26? And the first child should pop out after I'm 28 and before I'm 35? XD

Ok, homesickness to popping babies.

So anyway, I don't miss Kuching 100% and the only reason I think I'll go back is if my parents and Nickki are still there and are stubborn on coming over! Haha! Nah, just kidding!

What I plan to say is that, I would love to start a new life here or if I have to, somewhere else which is outside of M'sia. I want to say that, "I'll go where ever the Lord takes me," but I would love to add on and tell Him to please send me to somewhere nice which I am needed, preferably a more civilised area (Hah!) but well, if Jesus says that I have to be somewhere then, I pray that I will have the courage and strength to be in that place and learn to adapt in that foreign place.

Hey, aren't I adapting now and not being homesick? (^.^)

Sunday, March 8

I say,

Sometimes thinking of too many "What if?s" is ridiculous as they will all sum up to "What for?".

Thursday, March 5

VDA video, I think.

This is such a ROTF LMAO video! You have to watch it!! Well, unless you are under 18 years old or just too sensitive then maybe it's best you don't.

Presenting, The Lonely Island's "Jizz in my Pants".

It's hilarious isn't it? I can't stop laughing every time I watch this. Did you listen to the lyrics?? Did you see their faces?? Hahahahah!

The next day, my alarm goes off and I
jizz in my pants
Open my window and a breeze rolls in and I
jizz in my pants
When Bruce Willis was dead at the end of sixth sense I
jizz in my pants
I just ate a grape and I
jizz in my pants

Ok now say it with me,

WHAT THE???

LOLS!!! XD

By the way, did you spot one well known celeb in the clip? (^.^)

Tuesday, March 3

Excuussee me?

Have you ever forgotten the face or the name of the person you just met and when he or she walks up to you for the second time maybe later in the day or some other day, you go, "Ah, have I met you before? I'm so sorry but what was your name again?"? It's very embarrassing, especially if the other person remembered your name. (^.^)

Luckily, that did not happen to me in uni, yet.

For the past couple of days, my mind has been playing a few scenarios in which I end up making a goof of myself. And you know, I always get the feeling that I WILL somehow do something so silly it'll make the dancing monkey roll on the floor and laugh its hairy ass off.

Being the clumsy fool that I am, I could have tripped from the top of the staircase and cause an unwanted domino effect or accidentally knock a cyclist from his or her bike or spill water all over my top or have toilet paper stuck to my shoe or call out to some stranger thinking that I knew who the fella was. Heh.

I know that even though I try to be more cautious, some minor accidents can't be avoided, you know, all the tripping and stuff. However, I don't think it'll be that much of a problem for me to try and remember faces of the new people I meet! =D Hehe.. Don't get me wrong, I don't normally have problems in faces (ok, maybe I do, sometimes..) but you see, I'm not used to looking at Caucasians all over the place (and the uni is so darn huge, I might never bump into the same person at the same place ever again!) and to me, most of them look the same.

There goes a tall blonde blue-eyed boy there and oh look! Another one there and another and another and another... Hmmm... Are they the same people I wonder? =S

Heh. I'm pretty sure they feel the same way too when they look at us Asians. XD

But anyway, I try to remember their names and faces by recognizing certain facial features or outstanding characteristics. I'll maybe take note that so-and-so has dark bob cut hair and beautiful green eyes or so-and-so has multiple piercings on her face (and tongue) or so-and-so is over 6 feet tall, thin but geeky, you get the idea.

Thankfully the people I met aren't the ordinary looking people and I actually recognised them straight away. Haha!

Oh but the interesting bit was that I spotted some people who actually look like famous celebs! XD

A girl I saw at the Student Services Centre looks like Emily Prentiss from Criminal Minds (she even had the same nose shape and haircut!), I saw an Asian version of Chuck from Gossip Girl, a blonde version of Zac Efron in my Introductory Microeconomics lecture, and the coolest lookalike is my Accelerated Math lecturer who looks like David Beckham from afar!! I'm not joking! I tried to take a shot but couldn't. Maybe next time? =D

Ok, so they're just people who I saw that walked past my way but well, it's people like that who actually make the little things in life a bit more exciting!

Heh! XD
